Isaac Medina is an educator, conductor, and performer in the Austin area. He serves as the associate director of bands at Robert E. Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville, TX where he directs the marching band and the Hendrickson Philharmonia. Mr. Medina is completing his fifteenth year of public education where he previously led programs in Manor and El Paso, Texas. While under his direction, Mr. Medina's bands and students have earned district, regional, and state recognition, including the 2019 and 2020 Best Communities for Music Education Award from the NAMM Foundation.
Mr. Medina is the conductor of the Austin Flute Choir and serves on the board of the Austin Flute Society. In 2020, The Austin Flute Choir was chosen from hundreds applicants to perform at the 2021 National Flute Association Convention. The ensemble has been performing concerts throughout central Texas for the last thirty years. An accomplished flutist, Isaac has been a performing member with the Cedar Park Winds, the Abilene Philharmonic, El Paso Opera, El Paso Wind Symphony, Dallas Wind Symphony, the Roswell Symphony, and the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra.
Originally from Las Cruces, NM, Isaac received a bachelor's degree in Music Education from New Mexico State University and a master's degree in Music Performance from the University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Medina is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, The Austin Flute Society, and the National Flute Association. He will forever be indebted to his mentors, Dr. Lisa Van Winkle, Barbara Lambrecht, Jerry Junkin, and Marianne Gedigian.
