Recital: “New Transcriptions for Flute”

Sheryl Goodnight, flute and Leon W. Couch III, piano

Zoom or DMC

Friday, 6:30-7:00 PM

These transcriptions for Flute and Piano/Organ are derived from works originally composed for organ solo. The works display both lyricism and virtuosity between the two instruments, along with exploration of interesting colors and timbers. Three of these composers; J. S. Bach, Arthur Foote, and Olivier Messian have written original works, and these new transcriptions will be a joy to add to the flutist’s repertoire. The Buxtehude is reflective of the liturgical Season of Pentecost, and the Messiaen welcomes the forthcoming Season of Easter. The Brahms is originally one of the Chorale Preludes.
