Sarah Jane Hargis, artist for Azumi Flutes and Earthquaker Devices, is an internationally-acclaimed performer and composer of classical, modern and improvisational music. She has been teaching flute as a university professor/lecturer, private instructor and guest lecturer in schools and universities around North America for over twenty years. Sarah Jane currently teaches at St Edward’s University in Austin, TX. She holds a Master’s of Music in Flute Performance from the University of New Mexico, and a Bachelor’s of Music Education from Eastern Kentucky University. 

Hilary Janysek

 Flutist and educator, Dr. Hilary Janysek has been featured as a soloist with the Ball State Symphony Orchestra, the Texas State University Orchestra, the West Fork New Music Festival, and the Victoria Bach Festival as the Young Artist. Dr. Janysek currently teaches music history and flute at Texas Lutheran University, flute at Schreiner University, and is the flute instructor for Lake Travis ISD. Prior to that, she was the Graduate Assistant of Music History and Music Education at Ball State University (BSU) and was the adjunct instructor of flute at Purdue University. D.A., M.M., and Entrepreneurial Music Certificate from Ball State University; B.M. in Music Education from Texas State University.

Robert Dick

Robert Dick has utterly dispensed with preconceptions about what a flutist should sound like and what a flutist should play.  More than any flutist ever, Dick has reshaped the musical possibilities of the instrument, creating many thousands of new sonorities. Robert’s music carries this vision of continuous transformation into his approach to aesthetics and style. His compositions, striking in the intensity and originality of their emotion, structures and sound, have been recognized with a Guggenheim Fellowship, two NEA Composers Fellowships and very many grants and commissions.

Daniel Pardo

Daniel Pardo, works regularly as a studio musician in orchestral and commercial settings, fusing Western Classical traditions with ethnic sounds and technology. Daniel holds music performance degrees from Texas State University (B.M.), and the University of North Texas (M.M. and D.M.A.); and music business and production certificates from the Berklee College of Music. Daniel’s principal mentors include Fabio Londoño, Greg Patillo, Pedro Eustache, Adah Jones, and Mary Karen Clardy.  Daniel Pardo is Assistant Professor of Flute at Prairie View A&M University and a Yamaha Performing Artist & Clinician.

Rachel Woolf

Dr. Rachel Woolf is Lecturer of Flute at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She has taught at Brookhaven College and extensively across the DFW metroplex. She is a member of Dallas based symphonic pop rock band, The Polyphonic Spree, and has toured with them all over North America. Not one to be boxed in by notes on a page, she has sought out an array of opportunities to improvise—from freeform to jazz to Indian ragas. Notably, she was selected to perform traditional Hindustani North Indian flute during the Dalai Llama’s visit to Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Belinda Brouette

A native of Chicagoland, AFS Vice President, Belinda Brouette has been a flutist and educator for over 15 years. She lives in Austin where she gives private lessons flute at Ann Richards and Austin Waldorf. She is an active volunteer and member of Daughters of the American Revolution. 

Adah Jones

Adah Toland Jones, Professor of Flute at Texas State University, is also Principal Flute with the Austin Opera and the Victoria Bach Festival Orchestra and plays frequently with the Austin Symphony. She holds B.M. and M.M. degrees and a Performer's Certificate from the Eastman School of Music and a Doctor of Arts degree from Ball State University where she was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Citation.  Dr. Jones has performed and conducted masterclasses at flute festivals and universities throughout the U.S., in the U.K., Bulgaria and Dominica, West Indies. Dr. Jones is an artist for Burkart Flutes and Piccolos.

Adam Workman

Flutistry Boston President and Founder Adam Workman was raised in Vergennes, Vermont and moved to Boston to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Flute Performance from Boston University where he studied with Marianne Gedigian, Jacques Zoon, and Linda Toote.  Adam has appeared on recordings and in performances in Boston and beyond and was previously a member of the Boston-based Commonwealth Chamber Players and the Fensgate Chamber Players. Flutistry Boston was founded in 2011 providing products and services with the singular goal of helping flutists to sound their best. Adam, representing Flutistry, recently started a residency in Austin Texas with a beautiful showroom and full repair workshop.

Allison Asthana

Allison Asthana is an emerging flute performer and educator based out of Central Texas. She spent three seasons as second flutist and piccoloist with the Waco Symphony from 2013-2016, and has performed in many capacities at venues across the country, including Boston’s Symphony Hall, Carnegie Hall, Harvard Sanders Theatre, and Schermerhorn Symphony Hall. Allison is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Texas at Austin and serves as the graduate teaching assistant of the flute studio, studying with Marianne Gedigian. She also holds degrees from Boston University and Baylor University, 

Alex Coke

Alex Coke, born in Dallas, Texas, received his B.A. from the University Of Colorado at Boulder in 1976, with emphasis on flute performance. He began a rich musical partnership with composer, pianist Rich Harney in 1975 with whom he collaborated with  until his death in 2020. An improvisor at heart, Coke's eclectic attitude has led him to explore everything from Be-Bop to Huddie Ledbetter. His flute studies have ranged from Eric Dolphy to Indian ragas on the bamboo flute and extended flute techniques such as those researched by Robert Dick, Ann LaBerge and Wil Offermans.
