Unlocking Your Inner Artist, with Sheryl Cohen

Bring your flutes! Join NFA Lifetime Achievement Awardee Sheryl Cohen for an inspiring interactive session to explore techniques and daily habits that are easy to master to liberate the artist within. Participants will experience ways to facilitate effortless breathing, to create vibrant articulations, and to empower technical freedom, while promoting expressive playing.

Sheryl Cohen, 2025 NFA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, began her career in 1967 as principal flutist with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra and the Toledo Opera Association, and flute professor at The University of Toledo. Since then, she has performed throughout the United States in Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall, in Atlanta with Thamyris Contemporary Ensemble in Hans Werner Henze’s El Cimarron, in California at SongFest Art Song Festival, and at universities and regional flute festivals. Her international career started with concert tours in Asia in 1987 and continues to the present day with tours of Latin America and Europe.
