The Austin Flute Choir  was established in 1991 as part of the Austin Flute Society and is comprised of amateur and professional flutists from around the city. Its instrumentation includes piccolos, C-flutes, alto flutes, bass flutes, and a contrabass flute.

The flute choir performs repertoire ranging from classical, modern, popular, jazz, and folk music. The ensemble performs between four and six concerts each year around the Austin metro area.

Audition for the Flute Choir

If you have a passion for making music and keeping up with your flute playing, this is the place for you. 

​

The Austin Flute Choir will be holding auditions for new members for the 2026-2027 season. This ensemble performs concerts in the Austin metro area and is comprised of professional and semi-professional flutists of all backgrounds. 

• Auditions take place on Saturday, September 12th at St. John's United Methodist Church located at 2140 Allandale Rd. in Austin, TX. 

• Audition times will be emailed upon completion of this application and will be scheduled between 9:00am-12:00pm 

• Flutists will be required to perform an excerpt from Bach's Partita in A minor (attached to the application form accessed by the button below) as well as a solo or etude of choice that displays the player's lyrical and technical ability

• Rehearsals take place on Sundays from 2:00-3:30pm at St. John's UMC

• Rehearsals happen in cycles with 3-4 rehearsals happening before a scheduled performance 

• The season performance schedule will be sent soon
