April 8-9: Austin Flute Festival with Rhonda Larson

We are excited to offer a series of festival events including virtual workshops and performances on Friday evening and in-person events on Saturday at the Lake Travis High School campus. All festival activities are open to flutists of all ages and abilities. Flutists of all ages and abilities can engage in our masterclasses, workshops, concerts, and a special concert and workshop with our guest artist, Rhonda Larson. If you have been looking for a place to perform or a reason to dust off your keys, we welcome you to play in our festival flute choir, which will rehearse and perform on Saturday! All registered attendees will be entered into a raffle for an overhauled Emerson flute, a Trevor James Blaze piccolo (both donated by festival sponsor THE FLUTE FINDER, Dana Shaw) and signed CD/music donated by our guest artist, Rhonda Larson. Must be present at announcement to win. 

Be sure to bring your flute on Saturday to play in our festival flute choir. Short rehearsal at 1:00 followed by a performance at 4:30!

Friday, April 9

6-9 PM: Virtual Presentations on Zoom and Young Artist Competition Prelims (closed to public)

Saturday, April 10

8 AM: Registration opens

9AM-Noon: Performances by Special Guests, and the Young Artist Competition Finals (Open to the Public); Vendors such as Carolyn Nussbaum, Strait Music, The Flute Finder, Powell Flutes, and Win-d-Fender will be there with a variety of flutes and flute products for you to try, starting at 9 AM. 

1PM: Group Warm-Up and Festival Flute Choir Rehearsal

1:30PM: RHONDA LARSON IN CONCERT

2:45 PM: Rhythmic Rubrics with Rhonda 

4 PM: YAC Results announced and Austin Youth Flute Choir Performance

4:30 PM: Austin Flute Choir and Festival Flute Choir Performance

5:15 PM: Masterclass with Rhonda Larson

6:30 PM Exhibit Hall Closes

6:45 PM: Festival Closing
