Acclaimed for technical proficiency and breathtaking performances, April Clayton and her flute beguile audiences around the world with elegance and style. April Clayton is in high demand as soloist, recording artist, chamber musician, orchestral player and pedagogue. She performs regularly across the country and around the world. Tenured as Professor of Flute at Brigham Young University at age 31, she was the second music professor ever to receive the coveted BYU Young Scholar Award in 2010 in its decades-long history. She left her position at BYU to have time to pursue more concerts, recordings, and other creative activities. Since then, she has also been Artistic Director at the Gifted Music School in Salt Lake City, Director of Flute Studies at Snow College and Utah Valley University, and Artist in Residence at Westminster University.
